Aston University Mountaineering Club

Aston University Mountaineering Club has been around for many years and now has a lot of rock climbing experience. The club meets every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Aston Uni’s Gem Sports Centre to boulder (free for members). On a Wednesday afternoon the club climbs at one of Birmingham’s indoor climbing walls. These provide ideal for beginners to come along and participate.

The AUMC offers day and weekend trips to crags across the country. The club holds an official club trip at least every three to four weeks, but most of us climb most weekends so just ask to join in! We go to a wide range of areas from the awe inspiring Avon Gorge to the technical monsters of Peak Grit Stone. If this isn’t enough for you AUMC also hosts a summer trip to some far distant land where the weather is hot and so is the climbing!

The Geckos Alumni

The Geckos Mountaineering Club was founded for alumni and associated members of the AUMC. The Geckos represent an informal network of climbers who regularly climb across the country, and increasingly abroad.
